Jam from cedar and pine cones

The idea of manufacturing jam from pine and cedar cones
arose from a monk of the Svyato-Kosminskaya desert after he had visited mount Athos in Greece (watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIPLnytNWI8): there in one of the monasteries he was treated to a delicacy - chestnut jam. It was decided to prepare something similar from the one available in Russia. The cedar and/or pine cones boiled in a sugar solution give unique original taste and aroma ("sweet and coniferous") and the color is similar to buckwheat honey. It's amazing that the cones are completely ready-to-eat.
